How To Take Care of Your New Tattoo

+ Keep the fresh tattoo covered with the bandage for at least 2 hours. You may wear the bandage overnight but no longer than 24hrs.

Do not remove the bandage until you are at a place where you can clean the tattoo.

+ Wash the tattooed area thoroughly with unscented soap and water.

Do not soak or submerge your new tattoo until it is completely healed.

Do not use anything abrasive like scrubs or exfoliators.

+ When dry, apply a thin layer of an unscented, non-petroleum based lotion to the tattoo. We recommend 'Hustle Butter'

Vaseline and Aquaphor are NOT recommended.

Do not re-bandage.

+ If the newly tattooed area must be clothed, refrain from wearing heavy fabrics or tight fitting clothing.

+ Continue to wash and apply a thin layer of lotion at least 2 times a day.

+ After 3 days, or when the tattoo starts to peel, after cleaning, continue to apply a thin layer of unscented lotion as needed.

Do not itch or peal the skin. Slap the skin in order to relieve itching symptoms.

+ Avoid direct sun exposure and do not soak the tattoo in water (pools and baths) for at least 2 weeks.

PROTECTIVE FILM (Saniderm or Second Skin)

+ The first film application should stay in place

for 48 hours, depending on level of exudation.

It is normal for blood and fluids to collect under the bandage.

A second application may be used if necessary.

+ If small hives begin to form around the outside edges of the film remove the adhesive as soon as you are able and clean the tattoo as you normally would.

Do not remove the bandage until you are at a place where you can clean the tattoo.

Directions for Removal:

+ Gently peel the film by pulling it downward slowly from the edge back over itself.

Do not pull the bandage upwards.
